I had a good look about, went off to Bangour for a potter while thinking about it, then came back and got in.<\/p>\n<p>The EDS print centre in Livingston was a privatised facility for printing government giro cheques &#8211; there was a near-riot when it closed due to the huge disparity in the payments offered to EDS employees and former government employees.<\/p>\n<p>Due to the nature of the work done here, security was tight &#8211; a high and strong steel fence, only one gate, lots of CCTV and RFID-based ID cards for access to different areas.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/cycleologist\/2875913996\/in\/set-72157607408925068\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3062\/2875913996_9bdfc9e51e_z.jpg?v=0\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The main print halls were pitch-black, and someone had been lifting the elevated flooring to get at the cables:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/cycleologist\/2874385277\/in\/set-72157607408925068\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3155\/2874385277_3bf124d950_z.jpg?v=0\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>One of the big fireproof tape stores:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/cycleologist\/2874389553\/in\/set-72157607408925068\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3093\/2874389553_928e006f29_z.jpg?v=0\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>With ceiling tiles removed, wiring was hanging everywhere:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/cycleologist\/2875228154\/in\/set-72157607408925068\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3083\/2875228154_f061e53f61_z.jpg?v=0\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Lots of paperwork was still lying about:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/cycleologist\/2874413921\/in\/set-72157607408925068\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3074\/2874413921_76bd052d1b_z.jpg?v=0\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The local kiddies had been breaking windows, though none seemed to have got over the fence.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/cycleologist\/2875245240\/in\/set-72157607408925068\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3042\/2875245240_1d8d3ff340_z.jpg?v=0\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Towards the front on the building, there was a lot more light.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/cycleologist\/2875255314\/in\/set-72157607408925068\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3248\/2875255314_2f8247a274_z.jpg?v=0\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The state of alert was &#8220;Black Special&#8221;, apparently.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/cycleologist\/2875263230\/in\/set-72157607408925068\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3096\/2875263230_023dde480c_z.jpg?v=0\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The main atrium was a little fire-damaged, but someone had used the hose:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/cycleologist\/2875275732\/in\/set-72157607408925068\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3260\/2875275732_72aa9db500_z.jpg?v=0\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The office areas were very &#8217;70s space-age:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/cycleologist\/2874464761\/in\/set-72157607408925068\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3047\/2874464761_4cde57e758_z.jpg?v=0\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Still lots of equipment left in the kitchens:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/cycleologist\/2874482977\/in\/set-72157607408925068\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3139\/2874482977_d83ac49948_z.jpg?v=0\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The front desk was abandoned in a hurry (security cleared the building at the end to protect management):<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/cycleologist\/2875875916\/in\/set-72157607408925068\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3165\/2875875916_4cd9f23ab0_z.jpg?v=0\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Service technicians kept themselves busy:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/cycleologist\/2875069433\/in\/set-72157607408925068\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3172\/2875069433_2ce2cb6c63_z.jpg?v=0\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Making my unconventional way out, a couple of neds passed with fishing poles. &#8220;Are you a security guard?&#8221;. &#8220;Yes,&#8221;
